Seals are crucial components in industrial equipment, preventing media leakage. They are widely used in pumps, compressors, and valves. Taking mechanical seals as an example, their core structure includes a rotating ring, a stationary ring, a spring, and a sealing chamber. Sealing is achieved through the relative rotation of the rotating and stationary rings. Typical applications include submersible electric pumps, multiphase pumps, and chemical process pumps. The SEAL AA500 continuous flow analyzer, for instance, uses high-precision sealing technology to ensure that reagents do not leak during analysis, meeting the needs of laboratory automation. Furthermore, some high-end sealing devices (such as magnetic drive seals) use non-contact designs to completely eliminate the risk of leakage, suitable for highly toxic and flammable media. In oilfield applications, seals must be able to withstand high temperatures, high pressures, and wear, such as using silicon carbide or tungsten carbide rotating and stationary rings to ensure long-term stable operation under harsh conditions. The maintenance cost of sealing devices accounts for 10%-15% of the total equipment cost; therefore, their reliability directly affects the service life and operating efficiency of the equipment.
